And the bad news hits.

Mark Sanchez suffered more than just a sore shoulder in the Jets’ win against the Steelers on Sunday.

The Daily News has learned that Sanchez has a slight cartilage tear in his right shoulder. Sanchez admitted that “it didn’t feel right” when he landed awkwardly on his throwing shoulder during a first-quarter run. Whether the cartilage damage will hamper the second-year quarterback for the remainder of the season is unclear. Rex Ryan revealed on Monday that Sanchez underwent a precautionary MRI on Monday.

Sanchez maintained during his session with the media on Wednesday that he’ll absolutely play against the Bears on Sunday. Rex Ryan was “99 percent sure” that Sanchez will start. The Jets (10-4) will clinch its second consecutive playoff appearance under Ryan with a win. They’ll also punch their ticket to the postseason if either the Colts or Jaguars lose.

Sources told the Daily News that Sanchez should be “fine” for Sunday. The quarterback could conceivably play the remainder of the regular season and playoffs without incident.  -Manish Mehta

Well this is just wonderful. Our starting QB who is just getting his mojo back has torn cartilage in his right shoulder. This comes after a day when the only thing Jets related had to do with feet. Let’s just hope and pray this doesn’t kill our playoff chances because we’re not going any where with Father Time Brunell at QB.
