Last night around mid-night I was checking Twitter when news just started blowing up about Revis. Incarcerated Bob, WFAN regular caller, broke the news that the Jets and Revis were close to a deal. Our good friend Manish Mehta from the NY Daily News was right behind with the story and has been all over the spectrum today from WFAN to Sirius NFL Radio talking about the deal.
The deal between Revis and the Jets is 4 years, $46 Million with $32 Million in guaranteed money. It was called an “intermediate” deal by Tannenbaum, who said it was ideal for both sides. The length of the deal is much shorter then the original 10 year proposed contract that was turned down by Revis. Let’s just hope we don’t have another holdout in a few more years!
I see no reason why Darrelle won’t be starting on Monday Night against the Ravens. He has been training all off-season and recently working out with former Jet Ty Law in Florida. With Revis back, I’m absolutely positive that we will have the best defense in the NFL. Last year our defensive backfield depth was no where comparable to this season and we still had the #1 Defense. The additions of Cromartie, Kyle Wilson and Brodney Poole make our defense an absolute force. Hopefully Calvin Pace heals quickly because he brings a huge pass rush that turns into QB rushes and interceptions with the corner-backs we have.
I don’t care about the Revis holdout anymore. He’s back, he didn’t miss a game and he’s ready to go. Bravo Jets management for getting the deal done, now we have to sign David Harris.
